1. Starting Position: |
Starting Position |
With Palm facing down, hold your pencil, so that ...
a. one end of the pencil, preferably
the eraser part, is resting on the loose flesh between thumb
and index finger.
b. holding this postiion, stretch out your
hand and tuck the pencil under the index finger but over
the middle finger. (sort of like weaving)
c. Bend your index finger at a 90 degree
angle.
If you did this correctly all the fingers should be straight
except the index finger.
!: Make sure the fleshy part of your distal
phalanx of index finger is right on the center point
of the pencil (COP).

index finger down, creating pressure.

 |
| 3. Release |
Release |
Pull back the thumb, so that one end of the pencil is no
longer resting on the loose flesh between thumb and index
finger.
If you applied enough pressure, the pencil should rotate
counter-clockwise.

 |
| 3. Catch |
Catch |
As the pencil does 1 full rotation on top of your hand,
you have many choices.
By lifting either index, middle, ring fingers, you can make
the pencil land in between various fingers.
|
Troubleshooting:
Q: When I release the pressure, the pencil flips over and
remains "stuck" between index and middle finger.
A: Try to separate the index and middle finers
a bit so that they are a bit farther apart.
